July 20, 2025 – – – Cory Hedgecock Motorsports reached victory lane twice with the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series from July 15-19, which upped their overall win total to six for the year! Last Tuesday night at the nearby I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, Tennessee, Cory Hedgecock clicked off the second quickest time in Group B during qualifying and later started the 40-lap feature event from the outside of the second row. The Loudon, Tennessee ace survived a multi-car tangle on the initial start of the race, got his spot back for the subsequent restart, and proved to have the car to beat at what he deems his home track.
Cory got things wound up following a lap six restart and blasted past leader Chris Madden to grab the point on lap seven. From there, the #23V controlled the top spot for the remainder of the distance to reach the checkered flag first and Cory claimed the $7,553 payday over runner-up Madden, Garrett Smith, Dale McDowell, and Jimmy Owens.
“Glad nothing got torn up in that deal at the initial start of the race,” quoted Hedgecock in I-75 Raceway victory lane. “They were just racing and I just kinda got in the middle of it. Thankfully, I didn’t get much stuff torn up and was able to get my spot back. Chris Madden has been killing everybody on this deal, so happy I could outrun him. Even though it’s at my home place, we’ll still take the win either way!”
At Swainsboro Raceway in Swainsboro, Georgia on Friday evening, Cory knocked down the fastest lap overall during time trials to earn the pole position for the 40-lap main event. He then got the jump at the drop of the green flag and held the point throughout the caution-free contest. At the checkers, Cory was well ahead of runner-up Ashton Winger, Dalton Cook, Wil Herrington, and Austin Yarbrough to secure the $7,553 first place prize money.
“Dad was giving me some good signal sticks,” said Hedgecock following the race at Swainsboro Raceway. “This place has chewed me up and spit me out several times, but you know, just super tickled to death to get it done. Dad has been working his tail off on everything and I’ve got to thank everybody that has stuck with me!”
The busy week then wrapped up on Saturday with the $10,053 to win ‘Rebel Yell’ at Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Georgia. Cory went third quickest in Group B during time trials and later placed third in his stacked heat race. After rolling off from the outside of the fifth row in the 53-lap headliner, Cory retired after only forty circuits and wound up fourteenth in the final finishing order.
