September 21, 2025 – – – Cory Hedgecock recorded his eighth feature victory of the 2025 campaign on Saturday evening, September 20 at North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, Georgia! The Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series rolled into the northern Georgia facility to preside over the annual running of the ‘Young Memorial.’ Cory posted the second quickest time in Group B during the qualifying session and later started the 50-lap headliner from the outside of the second row.
The Loudon, Tennessee ace then slid by early leader Dale McDowell in heavy lapped traffic on the eleventh circuit and held the point for the remainder of the contest. At the checkered flag, Cory was 1.476 seconds ahead of McDowell to bag the $7,500 first place prize money for his first win aboard his new Longhorn Chassis. Rounding out the top five in the ‘Young Memorial’ was third place finisher Dalton Cook, David Payne, and Dillard Hatchett. “We had a good car – started fourth and got to second right off the bat,” quoted Hedgecock following his second straight Southern Thunder Series triumph. “Lapped traffic got hairy there and I hope Dale (McDowell) is not upset with me about the pass for the lead. Happy to get the win though and I’ve got to thank my Dad for all of his hard work, my entire family and crew, and all of our great partners on this thing. I’m still really confused on what this new Longhorn Chassis needs, but we will keep trying to get it better and better!”
Cory and his #23V team will venture south to Southern Raceway in Milton, Florida on September 26-27 for a Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series double-dip. An $8,000 payday will be up for grabs in Friday’s opener, while Saturday’s grand finale boasts a $12,000 winner’s check. Cory comes into the weekend third in the latest HTF point standings – only 28 markers out of the top spot.
