January 24, 2026 – – – The annual ‘Sunshine Nationals’ wrapped up in a big way earlier tonight at Volusia Speedway Park, as a $20,000 to win headliner capped off a huge tripleheader weekend in Barberville, Florida. In World of Outlaws Late Model Series qualifying, Cory Hedgecock started off his evening by laying down the nineteenth quickest lap in Group A during the time trial session. After finishing eleventh in his loaded heat race, Cory opted to scratch from his B-Main and was unable to transfer into the 50-lap feature that was won by Tim McCreadie.
January 23, 2026 – – – Night two of the ‘Sunshine Nationals’ took place earlier this evening at Volusia Speedway Park and another $12,000 winner’s check was up for grabs. Cory Hedgecock timed in ninth quickest in Group A during World of Outlaws Late Model Series qualifying prior to placing sixth in his loaded heat race. In the B-Main, Cory was involved in a spirited battle with Bobby Pierce for a coveted transfer spot into the 35-lap main event, but was unfortunately spun by the #32 and ultimately finished fourteenth in the consolation race. The Loudon, Tennessee ace was not able to make the start in the A-Main, which was won by Hudson O’Neal.
January 22, 2026 – – – The World of Outlaws Late Model Series kicked off their 2026 season tonight in the first round of the ‘Sunshine Nationals’ at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida. A 44-car field piled into the pit area at the Daytona Beach-area speedplant to do battle for the $12,000 first place prize money. Making his debut for Billy Hicks Racing, Cory Hedgecock grabbed the fourth and final transfer spot through his heat race prior to starting the 35-lap feature from the outside of the eighth row. At the conclusion of the contest, Cory was paid for an eighteenth place performance in his season lid lifter.
