March 8, 2026 – – – The Speedweeks journey for Cory Hedgecock wrapped up from March 4-7 at Golden Isles Speedway, as the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series presided over four big events at the Brunswick, Georgia-area speedplant. On Wednesday night in the opener, which boasted a $7,000 paycheck, Cory drove a Billy Hicks-owned machine to a ninth place heat race finish before scratching from the B-Main. Unfortunately, Cory failed to transfer into the 30-lap feature during his final racing program driving for the #79 team.
Cory and Billy split the following day and the Loudon, Tennessee ace jumped behind the wheel of Bruce Kane’s #15k entry. At GIS on Thursday in a $10,000 to win showdown, Cory placed tenth in his heat race prior to scratching for the remainder of the evening. With a $12,000 top prize up for grabs on Friday, Cory unfortunately did not transfer into the 50-lapper after running eighth in his heat race and sixth in his B-Main. The decision was then made to forego Saturday’s $25,000 to win grand finale.
