June 16, 2024 – – – After choosing to skip Friday’s $10,000 to win weekend opener at Smoky Mountain Speedway, Cory Hedgecock unloaded the Viper Motorsports #36V car on Saturday evening, June 15 at the Maryville, Tennessee speedplant. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series presided over the annual ‘Mountain Moonshine Classic’ and a whopping $50,000 first place prize was up for grabs.
Cory stopped the clock sixth quickest in Group A during the qualifying session prior to finishing second in heat race action behind only Ricky Thornton, Jr. After rolling off seventh on the grid in the 60-lap headliner, Cory raced hard to stay inside of the top ten before ultimately slipping back to a twelfth place performance.
