Hedgecock Pulls Double Duty & Collects Pair of Wins During Tarheel 53!

October 26, 2025 – – – The Cory Hedgecock Motorsports team pulled double duty on Saturday evening, October 25 at I-75 Raceway and walked away with a pair of feature wins during the annual ‘Tarheel 53’ program! In Super Late Model competition at the nearby Sweetwater, Tennessee venue, Cory Hedgecock went fourth quickest overall during Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series qualifying prior to securing a heat race triumph. Cory then rolled off from the pole position in the 53-lap feature and led each and every circuit to pocket the $10,053 payday ahead of runner-up Brody Smith, Bobby Giffin, John Ownbey, and Cruz Skinner!

Behind the wheel of a new 604 Crate Late Model, Cory timed in sixth fastest during the qualifying session to earn the outside of the third row for the start of the 20-lap main event. The Loudon, Tennessee ace then blitzed to the front, took the lead on lap three, and never looked back to bag the $1,000 top prize over runner-up Koulten Herbert, Zach Shannon, Tiffany Hensley, and Doug Van Den Brink. With the pair of wins, Cory now has reached victory lane on twelve different occasions during the 2025 racing season! “We had a good car,” simply stated the winning Hedgecock in victory lane following the Super Late Model race. “Those cautions at the end weren’t real fun, but we’ll take them any way we can get them and bag this race at home. It’s good to get a Tarheel 53 title. We tried it once over at Tri-County Race Track (Brasstown, North Carolina), but we can’t hit our butt down there. Glad to get this win at home and thanks to everyone who supports this race team!”

Cory and his #23V team are set to enjoy the upcoming weekend off from action, but will return to competition from November 5-8 in the ‘World Finals’ at the Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, North Carolina. World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Model Series qualifying will take place at the 4/10-mile, Charlotte-area venue next Wednesday before three straight nights of racing for the ground-pounding Super Late Models. Cory will vie for a $15,000 winner’s check on both Thursday and Friday, while Saturday’s finale will boast a $25,000 windfall.
