Hedgecock falls short in Powell Memorial at All-Tech

On Friday afternoon Cory Hedgecock made the trip to All-Tech Raceway (Lake City, Fla.) to take part in the 25th annual Powell Memorial. Drawing a stout field of 70 Late Models for the two-day event, Hedgecock secured his spot into the main event on Saturday night with a 10-lap heat race victory.

After Mother Nature shifted the $25,000-to-win finale to Sunday afternoon, Cory was up to second early and began challenging race-leader Mark Whitener by lap 25. Making an attempt to nose ahead of Whitener on the high-side following a lap-48 restart, Hedgecock made contact with the wall that saw him retire from competition. He was credited with an 17th place outing.
