August 17, 2025 – – – Cory Hedgecock and his #23V team competed in a single event over the August 15-16 weekend and emerged victorious at Smoky Mountain Speedway to capture their seventh triumph of the 2025 campaign! The Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series presided over a single day shootout on Saturday and 30 entrants piled into the pit area at the Maryville, Tennessee facility.
In qualifying, Cory turned in the fifth quickest lap in Group A and was locked into the inside of the fifth row for the start of the 40-lap main event. The Loudon, Tennessee ace blasted up to the second spot early in the feature distance before leader Jadon Frame pulled up lame with mechanical trouble on the thirteenth circuit. Cory inherited the point and then dominated the remainder of the contest to win by 4.991 seconds. He beat Randy Weaver, Michael Leach, Heath Hindman, and Jason Croft to the checkered flag to bag the $5,000 first place prize money! “We were fair in qualifying, but just not good enough – just wasn’t stuck to the track,” quoted Hedgecock in victory lane. “We threw everything at it and did everything that we know how to do. After things kinda got situated early in the race, I could finally get a lane to start running those guys down in front of us. The car was good enough to switch grooves and I tore right up through there to get the win. I’ve got to thank all of our great partners on this thing, as well as my family and kids!”
Next up for Cory Hedgecock Motorsports will be a visit to North Georgia Speedway on Saturday evening, August 23. The Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series will return to action at the Chatsworth, Georgia oval and a $15,000 winner’s check will be on the line. Cory comes into the weekend third in the latest version of the HTF point standings. Learn more online at www.htfseries.com or watch every lap of the dirt-slinging action LIVE on www.huntthefront.tv.
