Hedgecock notches runner-up finish in Leftover at 411

On Saturday afternoon Cory Hedgecock visited 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tenn.) to compete in the Super and Crate Late Model ranks for the fifth annual Leftover. In a stout field of 52 Iron-Man Racing Series entries, Hedgecock secured his spot into the $5,000-to-win A-Main with the fastest lap in his time trial group. Starting in second, Cory blasted ahead of polesitter Robby Moses on the opening lap and paced the field for the opening 17 circuits. With Jimmy Owens wrestling away the top spot on lap 18, Hedgecock went on to place second behind Owens with Randy Weaver, Dustin Linville, and Mike Marlar rounding out the Top-5. Drawing 49 Crate Late Models, Cory timed in sixth fastest overall in qualifying, which positioned him sixth on the starting grid for the main event. With $1,500 on the line, Hedgecock faded two spots in the 25-lapper to place eighth.
