Hedgecock took his E-Z-GO No. 23 Pace Performance/ Budget Transmissions/ Rocket Chassis/ Eagle Racing Engine entry into battle against a field of 38 Indiana Pro Late Models.
After laying down the fastest lap in his time trial group, Cory posted a heat race win to lock into the 50-lap main event. Following the invert, Hedgecock was positioned fourth on the feature grid. He dominated the second half of the race to record his ninth win of the season over Shelby Miles, Marty O’Neal, John Mayer Jr., and Tory Collins.
Drawing a stout field of 59 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series entries for the “Night Before the Jackson,” Cory came in 11th fastest in his time trial group before placing fifth in his heat. Needing a second-place finish or better in his B-Main, Hedgecock scored a runner-up finish behind Tanner English, which positioned him 24th on the feature grid.
With $10,000 on the line, Cory ran into electrical issues on his No. 23 Super Late Model before the start of the 40-lap main event, ending his night.
On Saturday for the 41st Annual Jackson 100, Cory came in fifth in his heat, giving him one final shot at the $15,000-to-win main event with a B-Main appearance. Locking in the Top 2, Hedgecock fell one spot short with a third-place outing.
