Cory Hedgecock finishes second at Tri-County Racetrack

Cory Hedgecock returned with the Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals on Friday evening at Tri-County Racetrack (Brasstown, N.C.) for the North Carolina State Championship. Topping the 18-car field in time trials, Hedgecock locked into the second-starting position alongside David Payne. After setting the pace for the first 17 laps, Cory surrendered the lead to Payne on lap-18 amid lapped-traffic. The pair exchanged sliders in the final 10 circuits but Hedgecock fell short at the line to place second, trailing Payne to the checkers. Dale McDowell, Shawn Chastain, and Donald McIntosh completed the Top-5 finishers in the 40-lap affair.
