Hedgecock bags a trio of Top-5 finishes

On Friday afternoon, Cory Hedgecock was one of 32 Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals series entries on hand at I-75 Raceway (Sweetwater, Tenn.) for the third attempt at the Tennessee oval. With time trials setting the grid for the $5,053-to-win A-Main, Hedgecock laid down the second fastest time in his group behind Michael Page. Holding his spot for all 40 laps, Cory notched a fourth-place finish, following Brandon Overton, Michael Page, and Dale McDowell across the line with Tyler Millwood coming in fifth. The following night at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.) pulling double duty, Cory posted the third fastest time in his qualifying group, which positioned him fifth on the starting grid for the Southern All Star Series sanctioned feature. With $5,000 on the line, Hedgecock jumped up two spots to place third, trailing Jensen Ford and Ricky Weiss to the checkers. Dale McDowell and Sam Seawright completed the Top-5 finishers.

For the Steel Block Bandits Dirt Late Model Challenge series season debut, Hedgecock lost a last-lap battle to Mack McCarter by six-thousandths of a second to fall short of the $5,000 prize. Jason Manley, Matt Henderson, and Russell Erwin rounded out the Top-5.
